Our Infrastructure
Our infrastructure and facilities have been continually evolving since 2006.
Data-centre facilities
Our primary data-centre partners are Telecity and Interxion. These data-centre operators are absolutely world leaders in their field. We choose them for the following reasons:
- Quality infrastructure and operations (ISO9000, ISO 27000)
- Highly experienced
- Expanding European presence
- Unrivalled connectivity choices
- Financial stability
In addition, the following technical aspects help ensure highest resilience and availability at data-centre level.
- Full A+B power and UPS Systems with back-up generators.
- Highly redundant cooling and environmental systems
- Video surveillance cameras and 24-hour security personnel
- Proximity card access system etc.
Our primary data-centre presence is in Ireland, with a secondary significant presence in the UK. In addition we have some presence in other European countries.
Ireland is massively connected to the rest of the world with optic-fibre, and has in place stable and beneficial legislation around data protection and other data related issues. It has become the data-centre destination of choice for many of the top internet companies in the world, including the likes of Amazon, Microsoft, Paypal and Facebook.
C-Infinity Network Infrastructure
We utilise hardware from the world’s leading companies with a demonstrated commitment to providing the best equipment and support, like IBM, HP, Cisco and EMC. We only use the best, and upgrade our hardware frequently so that we always have the very latest technology, and minimise risk of hardware failure.
Our Network has multiple optical fibre links from diverse vendors routed to various destinations throughout Europe and the US, peering with Tier 1 Internet providers.
Layer 1 - Multiple Tier-1 ISPs
Layer 2 - Diverse local loop providers connect us to each ISP
Layer 3 - Fully Redundant Cisco Powered Network Mesh
Layer 4 - Use of HSRP (Hot Standby Routing Protocol) to provide physically
redundant Fast
Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet connections from separate access layer switches.
This makes for massive redundancy between our network and the Internet.
The network itself runs on a completely redundant, end-to-end Cisco Powered Network, comprising multiple top-end servers, multiple fibre channel SAN's, and multiple 100Mbps uplinks.
The redundant switches and network cards means that even if one switch or one firewall fails, the C Infinity and the clients’ networks will remain connected and online.
All cloud servers are deployed in a clustered architecture. Read more on this here.
Management and Monitoring
We manage and monitor all discoverable system resources 24/7/365 and can rapidly respond to issues, usually before they even occur.
We monitor each customer server for a standard list of events that can generate proactive and reactive alerts to the operations centre. These alerts can be configured to be emailed to either customer and/or C Infinity.
All of the infrastructure is centrally and actively patched and updated as soon as patches become available and the latest anti-virus and malware systems is deployed across all infrastructure. This includes testing patches and updates in a laboratory environment before deploying them to the production environment.
On customer networks, we fully test updates and patches before deploying those updates to the client network. Details of updates are communicated to customers in advance, and normally deployed at 03:00 on a Saturday morning followed by any required reboot. Of course, the timing of any updates can be agreed with the client on a server by server basis.
