2 Recent Microsoft Service Packs

Microsoft has released a couple of service packs that will be of interest to our managed server hosting customers.

The first of these is Service Pack 2 for Windows Server 2008.  Service Pack 1 was actually already a part of the original release.  This was because it was using the same basic code as Vista which went to SP1 at around the time of the W2008 launch.

You can learn more about Service Pack 2 for Windows Server 2008 here:

Microsoft also recently released Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 2008.  You can read the Release Notes and Readme to learn about what new features and fixes are included as well as any precautionary pre-installation steps to take.

Customers of C Infinity should contact support to organise the installation of these service packs.  They are not included in Automatic Updates due to the impact they might have on application compatibility.  It is recommended that you keep up to date with service packs because they include bix fixes from Microsoft an affect your support life cycle.
